Cecilia Theresa Waluda Conway, LPN, 84, of Dupont, died Friday morning in the AseraCare Hospice Unit at Mid-Valley Hospital.
Her husband of 44 years, Jack Conway, died in 1986.
Born Dec. 15, 1924, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Bridget Domzalski Waluda. She was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston. Although she worked many jobs while traveling with her military husband, she was most proud of her nursing career at CMC, prior to her retirement in 1975.
She loved to dance to big band music and family times together were the most important part of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family more than words can express.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her companion of more than 20 years, John Phillips; two sons, Irvin J. Conway and his wife, Joan, Danielsville; Craig J. Conway and his wife, Debbie, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Margaret Hildebrand and her husband, Lloyd, Ft. White, Fla.; Donna Gavern and her husband, Louis, Gouldsboro; Wendy Lombardo and her husband, Richard, Jermyn; Marcy Palmitessa and her husband, Robert, Scranton; a sister, Stella Kulesa, Dunmore; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Peckville Assembly of God Church, Route 6, Blakely, with services by her son-in-law, Lloyd Hildebrand. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DeGraw-Roever-Strauch Funeral Home, 2031 Green Ridge St., Dunmore.
