Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr.’s loss in Tuesday’s general election means his seat will become vacant in January.
It will be up to Gov. Ed Rendell to fill the post with temporary appointment, who must be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Senate. That person will serve in the seat until the next judicial election in 2011. The winner of that election will assume the seat in 2012 and serve the full, 10-year term.
