Alice Hawley, 84, of Kingston, formerly of Laurel Run, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in West Pittston, August 23, 1925, a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Yacalavitch Yuscavage. Alice was a graduate of West Pittston High School. She was formerly employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Valley Crest Nursing Home in Plains Township. Alice enjoyed playing cards and her visits to the casinos.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Root, in 1988, and by her second husband, Peter Hawley, in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John, Joseph and Albert Yuscavage; and by her sisters Helen Taylor, Mary Froitzheim and Eleanor Bennett.
Surviving are daughters Susan Root, Kingston, with whom she resided; Cynthia Keay, Doylestown; son Alfred Root and his wife, Beverly, Pitman, N.J.; grandchildren Robert Keay and his wife, Mia; Terri and William Keay; Jeffrey and Jennifer Morgantini; Dacia Lee and her husband, Paul; great-grandchildren Susan and Andrew Mazula; Tyler Mieczkowski; Kyle and Ryan Keay; sisters Frances Lengyel, Ohio; Regina Yuscavage, Florida; as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call on Saturday morning, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
