Alma A. Covert, 95, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Bonham’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stillwater, Pa.
Alma was born July 31, 1915, in Kingston, and was a daughter of the late Stanley and Sarah May Dymond Keller, and resided in the Sweet Valley area all of her life.
She graduated from Laketon High School in 1934 and was employed as a seamstress for the garment industry.
Alma was a member of the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church and served as secretary of the Bloomingdale Grange for over 30 years.
Her husband, C. George Covert, died in 1956. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Melvin, Francis, and Stanley Dale Keller; and sisters, Velma Hunsinger, Charlotte Keller and Ammetta Harvey.
Surviving are children, Sandra Mitchell and her fiancÚ, Robert Williams, Nanticoke; Judith Williams and her husband, Dean, Hunlock Creek, and Alan Covert and his fiance, Donna Sorber, Hunlock Creek; grandsons, William A. Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell, Larry Williams, Mark Williams and Joseph Covert; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Terry Hughes, of the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
