Food preservatives are topic

WVIA-TV, Channel 44, will present a live “Call the Doctor” program at 7 p.m. tonight titled, “Preservatives: What’s In Your Food?” The program will discuss food additives and preservatives and their toxic effects on children and weight; what additives should be avoided; and what to look for on food labels.

Free stroke rehab screenings

Allied Rehab and John Heinz Rehab are conducting free Stroke Rehab Screenings in Luzerne County this January.

Dates and locations are as follows: Jan. 11, John Heinz Rehab Institute, 150 Mundy St., Wilkes-Barre Township; Jan. 20, John Heinz Rehab-Dallas, 1158 Memorial Highway, Dallas; Jan. 25, John Heinz Rehab-Nanticoke, 30 East Main St., Nanticoke; and Jan. 26 John Heinz Rehab-Drums, 3 East Butler St., Drums.

The screenings, which are intended for individuals who have had a stroke, recently or in the past, will include an evaluation by therapists to determine if additional therapy services would be beneficial to the patient.

Free seminar on elder law

OneSource Medical Staffing and Home Health Agency will host a free seminar on the topic of Elder Law and Estate Planning at 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at the OneSource Staffing Office, 1124 Highway 315, Plains Township.
