Veronica E. Cronauer

Veronica E. Cronauer, 94, of Ewing, N.J., formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away at the Care One Nursing Facility in Ewing, Saturday, January 1, 2011.

She was born April 14, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late George and Anna Gotcha Mocho.

Veronica was formerly employed as a waitress at Percy Brown’s in Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre.

Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Cronauer, in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Hirthler, and by her sisters, Bertha Remakus and Anna Macho.

Surviving are daughter Joanne Hirthler, Ewing, and her companion, Wayne Sobke, Ewing; grandchildren, John Hirthler and his wife, Traci; Linda Tague; Jeffrey Hirthler and his wife, Jen; Michael Sobke; and Kim Vargo and her husband, Joseph; great-grandchildren, Samantha Hirthler; Nicholas and Lindsay Tague; Benjamin and Ella Hirthler and Amanda Vargo; brother Joseph Mocho, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Marie Petran, Allentown, Pa., and Theresa Barnas and her husband, Joseph, Allentown; mumerous nieces and nephews, including Anna Marie and attorney Robert Davidson and family, Dr. Bernard and Charlotte Remakus and family, Theresa and Kevin Riley and family, Tina Werkheiser and family, Joseph and Ann Barnas and family, and Patricia Mertz and family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
