Wayne R. "Baldy" Elston, 84, of Dallas, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, at The Village of Greenbriar, Dallas.
Born in Kunkle, Dallas Township, he was a son of the late Ralph and Agnes Isaac Elston.
He attended the Dallas Township schools.
Before retiring, he was a truck driver for Branch and Roadway trucking companies.
Wayne was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly Church, Trucksville.
Wayne was preceded in death by brothers, Gomer "Ike," Marvin "Jigs" and Gene "Chick"; and sisters, Dorothy Dodson and Lana Birnstock.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Joan Sutton Elston; sons, the Rev. Wayne R. Jr. and wife Dianne, Scotia, N.Y., and David and wife, Jan, Sweet Valley; daughter Larree Brown and husband Tom, Lake Township; grandchildren, Michelle Suski, Jeff Elston, Mike, Matt, and Mitch Bailey, Tom Brown, Jaime Elston, Jessica Langlois, and Janna Kabosky; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. Wayne R. Elston Jr. officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service. A military service will be held Saturday at 1:55 p.m.
