Richard Joseph Polney, of Lewis Road, Harding, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, after suffering from COPD.
Born February 25, 1947, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Anthony and Frances (Sidor) Polney. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Marymount High School. He was employed as a design engineer for many years at Prebola Enterprises, Wyoming, and Karibe, West Pittston, retiring in 2009.
Richard enjoyed his log home in Harding and had spent many happy hours fishing and gardening during his life.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Polney.
Surviving are his wife, the former Camille Lewandowski, with whom he was married 41 years; son Richard John Polney, Manila, Philippines; brothers, Anthony and his wife, Dolores, Bluffton, S.C., and John and his wife, Rita, Bear Creek; sister, Marie Lendacky and her husband, Damien, Wilkes-Barre; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The Polney family would like to invite all family and friends to attend a celebration of Richard’s life from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Genetti’s Hotel and Banquet Center, Market Street, Wilkes-Barre.
