Josephine F. Wojnar, 93, of Warrior Run, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Ashley, on March 19, 1918. She was a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Zakrzewska Namiotka. She was a graduate of Ashley High School, class of 1936.
Josephine resided in Warrior Run for most of her life, where she was a member of the Warrior Run Fire Auxiliary, and served as its chaplain.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Vincent A. Wojnar; sisters, Edna Wojnar, Alice Koslowski, Lottie Ruda, and Anna Riscavage.
Surviving are her sons, Vincent A. Wojnar, Mountain Top; Anthony V. Wojnar, Mountain Top; and Ronald J. Wojnar, San Antonio, Texas; as well as 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Joseph Kakareka officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
