SCRANTON – University of Scranton police arrested a man on Friday, April 15, for returning to university-owned property after prior warnings and arrests.
Alvin Moore, 26, listed in police documents as homeless, faces one count of defiant trespass after he allegedly wouldn’t leave the university’s DeNaples Center just after midnight on Friday.
Moore told police he was at the center because he was homeless and alleged that no local shelters would house him “because he is an active gang member,” according to an affidavit.
Similar charges against Moore were dismissed in mid-March after he allegedly followed a young woman into a dorm room on campus. He pleaded guilty to an unrelated prowling charge after he was found outside a Vine Street home in late March, according to court documents.
Moore was held for a lack of $5,000 bail following an April 15 arraignment. A preliminary hearing is set for April 20.
