Ambulance Assn. to hold meeting

Franklin-Northmoreland Township Ambulance Association will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The meeting will be held at the Franklin Township Fire Hall, 329 Orange Road, Franklin Township.

New members are welcome to attend.

Rotary conducts raffle

The Dallas Rotary Club announces a new venue for its booth at the Luzerne County Fall Fair which will be held from September 7-11. The club will sponsor a raffle with three prizes: a $500 gas card, a $200 super market card and $100 worth of lottery tickets.

It will also sponsor a special family meal deal: a hot dog and beverage of choice (soda, coffee or bottled water) for only $2.50. All proceeds from the raffle and food sales will benefit Rotary charities which funds programs for youth and the elderly in the community.

Photographer will address Round Table

Chris Heisey will present a program entitled “Photographing the Civil War Battlefield” for the Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Hwy., Dallas.

A native Pennsylvanian having grown up near Gettysburg, Heisey has traveled the country the past 20 years gathering images at more than 350 hallowed American battlefields. His work graces numerous places in the Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park.

Riding clinics benefit equine rescue

Saturday Horsemanship Riding Clinics will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on September 10, 17 and 24 at Tanament Stables in Benton. Bring your own horse or ride a Tanament horse.

Cost is $50 with 10 percent of proceeds donated to Trailways to Heaven Equine Rescue. Call 864-0102 for reservations.

NE Youth will present ‘Rapunzel’

Northeast Youth Theatre Company will present “Rapunzel” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Luzerne County Fair.

This fun comedic twist on an old tale shows that a prince and a princess are not “perfect handsome” people but real people who find love in real ways.

Amanda May, of Hunlock Creek, plays Rapunzel while Hannah Kasko, of Dallas, is the Science Geek, Prince Lou.

Bridal show planned

The Irem Temple Country Club Bridal Show will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Irem Pavilion, 1340 Country Club Rd., Dallas.

Participants will tour the country club and meet an array of vendors. A bridal fashion show will be featured at 2:30 p.m. and door prizes will be awarded following the show.

Registration, which is free, may be done by calling 675-1134, ext. 100.

Career day slated

The Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and the Wyoming County Commissioners will sponsor a career day/job fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14 in the grand ball room at Shadowbrook Inn & Resort.
