Greater Pittston ‘Y’ offers youth sports programs

The Pittston YMCA offers a variety of sports and instructional programs for children of all ages, such as soccer, gymnastics, basketball and football. Y programs are all structured to meet needs of each participant and emphasize instruction, teamwork, socialization, and fun. For the winter season, the Y is proud to offer the following youth sports programming:

Instructional Flag Football League

Returning for winter 2011 is the Y’s Instructional Flag Football League, again under the direction of Rich Musinski. The football league teaches the basic fundamentals of football, all with learning how to be part of a team. The football league is open to children ages 6 – 12. The League begins on January 18 and runs for 10 weeks. Practices will be held on Tuesday evenings in the Pittston Y gym and games will be on Sundays. Registration forms for the flag football league are available at the front desk of the YMCA; stop in to fill out a form to register your child. Rich is a former Wyoming Area football standout and participated in professional football for several seasons. Rich hopes to provide, “a safe, non-threatening environment suitable for skill development in young players,” and sites his want to give back to kids interested in football, as many coaches he admired throughout his playing career did.
