WA Wrestling Club Night at the Races

The Wyoming Area Wrestling Club will hold its annual Night at the Races on February 12 at St Anthony’s Church Hall, 28 Memorial Ave., in Exeter. Doors open at 6 p.m. Horses are $10 and available at the door or can be purchased ahead of time from a wrestler. To purchase a horse call, 570-417-1182 or 570-332-0085.

A/D LL meeting tonight

The Avoca/Dupont Little League will hold a meeting tonight at the upper Avoca Little League field clubhouse at 7 p.m. The Board of Directors are asked to meet at 6:30 p.m.

WA Diamond Club to meet

The Wyoming Area Diamond Club will meet Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the Secondary Center Room 129. All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade parents are asked to attend as plans for the upcoming Martinsburg, VA trip will be discussed. All parents 7th -9th grade are invited to attend as plans for the upcoming season will be discussed.

PA wrestling boosters meeting

The Pittston Area Wrestling Booster Club will host a meeting on Monday at the middle school at 6:30 p.m. All parents are urged to attend.

WA wrestling slates meeting

The Wyoming Area Wrestling Club will meet January 20 at 7 p.m. at the High School. The meeting is held outside the elementary wrestling room.

WAGBPA January meeting set

The Wyoming Area Girls Basketball Parent Association will hold its monthly meeting on Jan.11 at High School in Room #133 at 7 p.m.

All parents of girls playing basketball in grades 7th thru 12th are encouraged to attend.

Lady Birds seek bowlers

The Lady Birds Bowling League still needs a few bowlers to fill this Wednesday night league. The league is a women’s league with a 90 percent handicap. Interested bowlers are asked to call Margie at 457-7581 or Tricia at 654-2537. The Lady Birds Bowling League bowls on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m.

Warriors Ice Hockey meeting

The WA Ice Hockey will be holding its monthly parents meeting on January 17 at the Revolution Ice Center in Pittston at 7:30 p.m. The parents of the WA Ice Hockey team will be working the Penguins games, at the Nacho Express cart, located near the West gate.

ABL registering players

The Avoca Basketball League will register interested kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls for the 2011 season in the Avoca Community Center on Sunday, Jan. 9 from 7 to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 16 from 7 to8 p.m.

League play is scheduled to begin on Saturday, January 22 in eight playing divisions. The ABL is sponsored by the Boro of Avoca & the Avoca Jolly Boys, and is played in Honor of Michael Joyce.

Duryea LL sets meeting

The Duryea Little League will hold it monthly meeting on Sunday, January 16 at 7 p.m. at the Duryea VFW.

‘Y’ WBL starting Jan. 16

The Greater Pittston YMCA Men’s Winter Basketball League begins January 16. Registration deadline is January 9. Stop by the Pittston YMCA to pick up a registration form for your team or call Joelle Sharisky, Program Director at 655-2255 ext. 104 for more information.

Duryea LL registering players

The Duryea Little League will hold 2011 registrations for their T-ball through Teeners teams including Girls Softball on January 24, 25, 26, and 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Duryea Borough Building.

Fees at the time of sign-ups are $50 per child, $60 per family and $60 for Teeners. Any questions, please call Ron at 655-0203.

WA Football Banquet set

The 2010 Wyoming Area Football Banquet will be held January 23 at 12:30 p.m. at The Woodlands.

If you have not received an invitation, please visit the Wyoming Area Football website at www.wyomingareafootball.org and download. RSVPs are due by January 15, 2011.

This year’s guest speaker will be former Wyoming Area nose guard and center, Attorney Matthew Carmody.

WA conducting Elementary Field Hockey

The Wyoming Area Field hockey parents association and the Wyoming Area Field Hockey coaches will be conducting an Elementary field hockey program for all Wyoming Area girls in grades 1-6.

The program will be twice a week, one day for a practice and one day for a league. The cost per girls is $30. The practices locations will be determined at a later time and the leagues will be held at the Tenth Street Gym on Sundays after 4 p.m..

The practices will be possible on Tuesday or Thursday from 7-9 p.m. The practices will begin the week of January 10 and the leagues will start on January 16.

Final FIRM tryout set

The FIRM Athletic Basketball Club will be having open tryouts for its 2011 spring AAU basketball teams. Tryouts are for girls in grades 4 thru 8 at the Kingston Rec Center, 655 Third Avenue, Kingston today, Jan. 9, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and cost for tryouts will be $25. Adults hoops league forming

The Pace Setter Athletic Club of Northeastern PA will operate an Adult (Over-30) Basketball League this coming January and February of 2011. The league will be held at the Newton Ransom Community Center in Clarks Summit. Games will be played on Thursday and Sunday evenings.
