ABL registrations this week

ABL registering players

The Avoca Basketball League will register interested K through 6th grade boys and girls for the 2011 season on today and Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Avoca Community Center. The ABL is sponsored by the Borough of Avoca and the Avoca Jolly Boys and directed by Stan Waleski. The ABL is played in Honor of Michael Joyce.

Pittston LL sets registration dates

Registration for the 2011 Pittston Little League will take place Jan. 29 from2-5p.m.; Feb. 2 from 6-8 p.m.; and Feb. 5 from2-5 p.m. Registrations will be held at the Pittston Little League Fieldhouse, and will be taken for children who reside in the City of Pittston, ages 4 (must be 4 before May 1) through 16.

These are the only registration dates for the 2011 season. Your child (tee-ball through Teeners) must be signed up on one of these dates to participate in the 2011 season.

Registration fees for T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minor League and Major League are $5 for one child, $75 for two children; and $100 for three children. Registration fees for Teeners are $85 per child. Fees are due at time of registration.

WAFPA meeting Thursday

Wyoming Area Football Parents Association is having their monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in room #129 at the high school. All parents/guardians of players in grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend. Important information regarding the football banquet and the Nite of the Races will be discussed. WA Wrestling Club Night at the Races

The Wyoming Area Wrestling Club will hold its annual Night at the Races on February 12 at St Anthony’s Church Hall, 28 Memorial Ave., in Exeter. Doors open at 6 p.m. Horses are $10 and available at the door or can be purchased ahead of time from a wrestler. To purchase a horse call, 570-417-1182 or 570-332-0085.

Avoca softball clinic set

Skills and Drills Softball clinic for girls of the Pittston Area, age 7-14 to be held at the Avoca Community Center on Tuesday nights, starting January 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to register and more info call Bob Cappelloni 881-8744 or Bob Gable 762-5762. Space is limited.

JTLL signups, meeting

The Jenkins Twp Little League first sign up is set for Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building. Fees due at sign up are $65 for Major/Minor Baseball/Softball, $55 for Coach Pitch, $50 for T-Ball and $75 for Teeners. Additional child cost is $30 with no rebate for Teeners. Please bring a copy of child’s Birth Certificate, and three Proofs of Residency. Information and forms can be found at www.jenkinstwplittleleague.com.

The monthly meeting will follow after sign ups. All board members should attend.

WASPA meeting Tuesday

The Wyoming Area Softball Parents Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Sabitini’s Pizza in Exeter. All parents of softball players, grades 7 through 12, are invited to attend to discuss spring fundraisers, pasta dinner and 2011equipment needs of the players.

PTLL meeting tonight

The Pittston Township Little League will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at Savo’s Pizza and Family Restaurant at the Pittston Mall. Topics to be discussed will include: 2011 player registration; finances and 2011 field projects. All league personnel and coaches are welcome to attend.

WA wrestling slates meeting

The Wyoming Area Wrestling Club will meet January 20 at 7 p.m. at the High School. The meeting is held outside the elementary wrestling room.

WPLL board meeting tonight

The West Pittston Little League Board will hold its monthly meeting tonight at 8 p.m. at the Little League clubhouse. The public is invited to attend.

Warriors Ice Hockey meeting

The WA Ice Hockey will be holding its monthly parents meeting on January 17 at the Revolution Ice Center in Pittston at 7:30 p.m. The parents of the WA Ice Hockey team will be working the Penguins games, at the Nacho Express cart, located near the West gate.

Duryea LL sets meeting

The Duryea Little League will hold it monthly meeting on Sunday, January 16 at 7 p.m. at the Duryea VFW.

Duryea LL registering players

The Duryea Little League will hold 2011 registrations for their T-ball through Teeners teams including Girls Softball on January 24, 25, 26, and 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Duryea Borough Building.

Fees at the time of sign-ups are $50 per child, $60 per family and $60 for Teeners. Any questions, please call Ron at 655-0203.

OFFL meeting next Sunday

The Old Forge Lions Little League will meet on January 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Old Forge High School. All interested coaches and volunteers are asked to attend. John Belko will preside.

WA Football Banquet set

The 2010 Wyoming Area Football Banquet will be held January 23 at 12:30 p.m. at The Woodlands.
