Vargo claims ABA National Championship

RJ Vargo recently earned the title of National Champion in his age group of the Amerrican Bicycle Association.

RJ Vargo, of West Wyoming, has recently earned the title of National Champion in his age group in the American Bicycle Association (ABA).

RJ earned his title by racing nationals all over the country. He raced many races on the East coast, including his home track, Cedar BMX near Clarks Summit.

He also competed in races in the Midwest and one in California. He recently traveled to Tulsa, OK for the ABA Grand nationals. He earned the title of national age group champion because he had the most points in his class. Points are awarded for finishes in the national races. RJ is 16 years old.

He has been racing BMX (bicycle motocross) for 8 years. He also races many state and regional races. RJ also earned the Pennsylvania State Title this year. He has held that title for many years.

RJ enjoys riding and practicing at his local track, Cedar BMX, in Newton where he can often be found helping out the younger riders.

RJ is in the 11th grade at Wyoming Area secondary center, where he is a member of the National Honor Society.
