The eighth grade class from St. Mary’s Assumption School in Pittston celebrated its annual May Crowning on Thursday, May 5. The class prepared the celebration with the help of Mrs. Ann Marie Walsh, eighth grade teacher. Fr. Paul McDonnell, OSJ presided over the Prayer Service. This ceremony honors our Blessed Mother, Mary during the month of May.

Our next school Mass will be on Thursday, May 26 at 10:30 am. Second grade is preparing the celebration; this will be our annual Group Communion. Fr. Maloney will be our celebrant. All parents and families are invited to join us.
Final voucher credits have been posted and a final statements were sent home. All fundraising balances MUST be paid in full as soon as possible.
Very important: Please return your Facts Management Paper to St. Mary’s Assumption School signed and dated as soon as possible. This will insure that the tuition process will continue to run smoothly and the paperwork will be forwarded to your new school within the system.
The Mother/Son Bowling event will take place on Sunday, May 22nd. The event will be from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Modern Bowling Lanes in Wyoming. The cost is $10.00 per person, which will include two games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and a soda. Checks can be made out to St. Mary’s Assumption School. Reservations must be in by Monday, May 16th.

Members of St. Mary’s Assumption School grades 5 – 8 would like to invite everyone to their Spring Musical entitled “The Granny Awards.” This musical will be held on Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the former Seton Catholic Auditorium. Members of the eighth grade make up the musical’s cast. Fifth though seventh grades will make up the chorus. A donation of $5.00 per family will be used to defray the cost of the performance. Please have the children at the auditorium no later than 6:15 pm.
Thursday, June 2: 6:00 p.m. Mass and Reception for all current and past families and alumni of St. Mary’s Assumption School.
Sunday, June 12: SMA Family Fun Day (location to be announced).
Wednesday, June 15: Knoebels Day, Last day of school.
Children may wear SMA t-shirt with long shorts or capri’s (for girls) no short shorts for Mass. Sneakers or sandals are both fine. Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Holy Rosary School sent voucher packets to us last week. If you need one please contact the office. They run their program very similar to ours. You can send your completed order forms into the St. Mary’s office by Tuesday morning; Mrs. Hintze will pick them up and take them to Holy Rosary where they will be filled on Thursday morning. They will then be returned to St. Mary’s on Thursday afternoon to be sent home with your child. If you would rather come to Holy Rosary to purchase your vouchers in person they can be purchased Thursday mornings in the church hall from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Please make checks payable to Holy Rosary. We will try to contact some of the other schools to see what their procedures are for their voucher program. I will let you know as the information becomes available.
