Krawczyk, Merithew lead Dupont VFW to victories

Dupont VFW 8, Pittston K of C 5

Dupont VFW earned its ninth win of the season with a victory over the Pittston City Knights of Columbus, 8-5, behind the pitching of Kevin Krawczyk and hitting of Chris Merithew.

Krawczyk went 5.2 innings to pick up the win, and also tripled and scored two runs. Merithew smacked three hits, scored two runs, and also recorded the final out for the save.

Eric Fritz added two hits and three RBI for Dupont.

Holden Prescott cracked a two-run homer for K of C, and Justin Fitzpatrick collected three hits.

Dupont VFW 2, PT Phillies 1

Dupont VFW defeated the Pittston Twp. Phillies, 2-1, in a rain-shortened game.

Aidan Jopling pitched a complete-game for the win on the mound. He scattered four hits and struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings of work.

Kevin Krawczyk lead Dupont at the plate with an RBI triple and a run scored. Dominic Nickol had a single.

Mike Elko knocked in the Phillies run with a single.

JT Phillies 10, West Side Auto 0

Steve Shamnoski led the winning offense for Jenkins Township Milazzo Phillies in a 10-0 win over West Pittston West Side Auto.

Shamnoski belted a grand slam and two doubles for the Phils. Johnny Jones tripled and singled, Ryan Zelonis doubled and singled, Vito Quaglia doubled, and Jonathon Bone singled twice for JT. Other hitters for Jenkins were Santo Insalaco and Zach Mlodzienski.

Hitting for West Side Auto was Curtis Hannon

JT Phillies 15, Pittston K of C 3

Steve Shamnoski hit three doubles and Johnny Jones added a double and two singles as the Jenkins Twp. Milazzo Phillies beat Pittston City Knights of Columbus, 15-3.

Nick Allardyce singled twice, and Jonathon Bone and Zach Mlodzienski also hit for Jenkins.

Dylan Spurlin and Joe June got hits for Pittston.

Pittston Legion 11, Exeter Yankees 10

CJ Pisack hit a grand slam to lead the Pittston City Sons of American Legion to an 11-10 victory over the Exeter Yankees.

Tyler Jackson, Zack McCabe, Matt Costello and Chris Smitely led the hitting for Pittston.

Hitting for Exeter was Adam Buczynski, Colin Barletta and Aaron Zezza.

Pittston Legion 7, West Side Auto 6

Pittston City Sons of American Legion beat West Side Auto, 7-6, behind pitcher Robbie Wychock who had six strikeouts and also tripled and singled.

Also hitting for Pittston was Tyler Jackson who had a double and a single, Brandon Lucke, Matt Costello and Zach McCabe all had two singles each.

West Side Auto hitters were Noah Johnson, Zach Noss and Curtis Hannon.

Pittston Legion 3, Avoca VFW 0

Pittston City Sons of American Legion beat Avoca VFW, 3-0, as pitchers Tyler Jackson and CJ Pisack combined for 11 strikeouts.

Jason Homschek and Zack McCabe each had two hits for the winners.

Avoca VFW’s Alex McAndrew had a double.

Exeter Phillies 1, Exeter Yankees 0

In a showdown between the two Exeter Major League teams, the Exeter Parini Phillies held off a stubborn Exeter Aamco Yankees squad to earn a 1-0 victory.

Matt Wright pitched a complete game and earned the win, despite a strong pitching performance from the combination of Jake Wiesner, Kyle Musto, and Nick Athman for the Yankees.

Sam Giordano scored the game’s lone run when he belted a home run over the right field fence. Also hitting for the Phils were Wright and Ryan Shuleski, both adding singles.

For the Yankees, Aaron Zezza added two singles, while Alex Chronowski also chipped in with a single.

Exeter Phillies 6, WP Moose 3

Exeter Phillies chalked up another victory with a come from behind win to defeat the West Pittston Moose by a score of 6-3.

Steve Homza and Ryan Shuleski combined on the mound for the Phillies win. Homza also led the Phillies offense with two doubles. Also hitting for Exeter were, Sam Giordano and John McNeil each adding a double, and Ryan Wrubel with two singles.

Hitting for the Moose were; Mitchell Higley, John Rubino, Mike Bonita, and Albert Sciandra.

Bosak’s 13, Rossi’s 3

Mike Cantarella homered, doubled and singled twice to lead Bosak’s to a 13-3 win over Rossi’s Market.

Brandon Nee added three hits for the winners, and Brayden Walsh doubled and singled.

John Lee smacked two doubled for Rossi’s and Kevin Welsh added two singles.

Bosak’s 10, Mariotti’s 2

TJ Stalica, Anthony Kaminski and Brendan Mozeleski all had two hits to lead Bosak’s to a 10-2 win over Mariotti Lumber.

Shane Smith and Lorenzo Febbo each had two hits for Mariotti’s.

Pierantoni Law 5

Samantha Rydzy singled and doubled to lead Demarco Plumbing to a 12-5 win over Pierantoni Law.

Liz Cappelloni, Madison Cardinale, Kelsey Joyce, and Karrisa Perrins added doubles for the winners.

Ashley Scarantino and Theresa Domorasky had hits for Pierantoni Law

Sidel’s Restuarant defeated Pierantoni Law 7-3, limiting Pierantoni to two hits.

Madison Cardinale and Ashley Scarantino had the hits for Pierantoni Law.

Tripp Park 9, Atlantic Propane 1

Atlantic Propane pitchers Kyla Klocko and Mackenzie Gable combined for 10 strikeouts but the bats were quiet as Dupont Atlantic Propane lost to Papershop of Tripp Park 9-1 in the 10-u age bracket.

Lexi Felinski hat a hit and scored on a hit by Ava Perrins.

Atlantic Propane 3, Tripp Park 2

Mackenzie Gable scored on an infield hit by Isabella Gorzkowski with two outs in the sixth inning to rally Atlantic Propane to a 3-2 win.

Gable pitched four innings with 10 strikeouts in relief of Kyla Klocko.

Bailey Jordan doubled in a run and scored a run on a fielder’s choice by Kerri Shamnoski. Lexi Felinski singled and scored on a hit by Libby Williams.

Atlantic Propane 8, NE Insurance 3

Mackenzie Gable and Kyla Klocko combined to limit NE Insurance to two hits in an 8-3 win at Tripp Park.

Kerri Shamnoski led the offense with two hits and two runs scored. Also hitting and scoring runs were Gable, Julianna Wyman, and Bella Gorzkowski.

Atlantic Propane 16, Capolongo’s 8

The bats for Atlantic came alive as they won their third straight to beat Capolongo’s 16-8 at Tripp Park.

Julianna Wyman had three hits and scored twice to pace the offense.

Having multiple hits were Kerri Shamnoski, Bailey Jordan, Bella Gorzkowski and Kyla Klocko. Other hitters were Lexi Felinski and Madysn Antal.

Antal and Gorzkowski homered and both scored twice.

Jenkins Softball

Tony’s Pizza 9, Red Devils 4

Taylor Baloga went 3-for-3 with a triple as Jenkins Twp. Tony’s Pizza beat Newport Twp. Red Devils, 9-4.

Taryn Ashby added two hits for the winners, and Baloga, Mindina Lieback and Dominique Quaglia combined to one-hit the Devils.
