Wyoming Area started the WVC Field Hockey season with a tough 4-3 loss to Holy Redeemer last Friday in Wilkes-Barre.

The Lady Warriors led 3-1 with 16:29 left in the game before the Lady Royals rallied behind Greater Pittston resident Marnie Kusakavitch.

Kusakavitch scored back-to-back goals in the final 10 minutes – the last coming at the 4:14 mark – to give Holy Redeemer the victory. She also added an assist for the Lady Royals.

Serra Degnan scored all three goals for Wyoming Area (0-1). The first goal came unassisted at the 27:28 mark of the first half, and the second with 1:51 left in the opening half on a pass from Ally Adonizio. Degnan then completed her hat-trick at the 16:29 mark of the second half on an assist from Sam Shiner.

Games postponed

All Pittston Area and Wyoming Area games were postponed this week because of poor weather conditions and flooding in the Wyoming Valley. Both the Lady Patriots and Lady Warriors expect to get back on the fields this week.
